Detention Tracking

Clock starts. You get paid. No manual timers, no forgotten claims.

How it works

When your truck arrives at a shipper or receiver, SureMile starts tracking your wait time using GPS. Once you exceed the free-time window (typically 2 hours), the detention clock kicks in automatically.

The detention event is logged with timestamps and location evidence. When the load is delivered, the detention charge is automatically added to your invoice — no spreadsheets, no forgetting to bill for your time.

What's tracked

  • Arrival and departure timestamps via GPS geofence at each stop
  • Free-time countdown with configurable thresholds per broker
  • Detention hours and dollar amount calculated at your rate
  • Photo and timestamp evidence captured for dispute resolution
  • Full detention history by broker — see who consistently makes you wait

Why it matters

The average owner-operator loses $1,200–$2,400 per month in unbilled detention. Most drivers don't track it because it's a pain — you're tired, you forget, or you don't want to argue with the broker.

SureMile eliminates that entirely. The data is captured automatically, the charge is calculated, and it's on the invoice before you even leave the facility. Drivers using detention tracking recover an average of $1,800/month in previously lost revenue.
